No one was injured Thursday morning when more than a dozen cars of a Union Pacific train derailed in North Little Rock, a railroad spokesperson said in an email.
While a North Little Rock Fire Department spokesperson on the scene of the incident said 19 cars had derailed, including 15 cars carrying grain and four empty tanker cars, the Union Pacific spokesperson said the "exact number" was 15 cars derailed.
The cause of the derailment is unknown. The results of the investigation will be submitted to the Federal Railroad Administration and likely won't be available for two months.
The incident was first reported to the fire department at 7:33 a.m.
The cars derailed as the train was leaving Union Pacific's North Little Rock rail yard, near the intersection of West 13th and North Orange streets.
