No one was injured Thursday morning when approximately 14 cars of a Union Pacific train derailed in North Little Rock, a railroad spokesperson said in an email.
Earlier, a North Little Rock Fire Department spokesperson on the scene of the incident said 19 cars had derailed, including 15 cars carrying grain and four empty tankers cars.
The incident was first reported to the fire department at 7:33 a.m. The cause of the derailment is unknown.
The cars derailed as the train was leaving Union Pacific's North Little Rock rail yard, near the intersection of West 13th and North Orange streets.
The derailment occurred behind the Boys and Girls Club location at 1212 Jim Wetherington Place. It caused no disruptions in traffic.
"They've disconnected and removed [the] lead [train cars] and moved them [to another area] where the lanes double-track where they can open up out intersections," said Fire Department spokesperson Gary Williams.
