A Little Rock man is dead following an exchange of gunfire with authorities that ended a four-hour standoff Thursday in Prairie County, according to the Arkansas State Police.
The unnamed 32-year-old man had barricaded himself inside a home on East Walnut Street in DeValls Bluff around 9:30 a.m., police said.
The suspect was wanted on multiple felony warrants out of Little Rock, Sherwood and Pulaski County, according to a state police news release.
The suspect initiated gunfire with law enforcement, which included state police and the U.S. Marshals Service, authorities said.
The standoff concluded in a shootout with members of the state police’s SWAT team, according to the release.
State police are leading the investigation, while the FBI is assisting in evidence recovery. A state police spokesperson said the man’s identity would be announced either Thursday evening or Friday morning.
