Arkansas State Police arrested a man Tuesday who was wanted by Lynn, Mass., authorities on rape and assault charges, the agency announced Thursday.

Elmer Alvarado-Lopez, 36, was arrested on two counts of rape of a child under 16 by force and two counts of indecent assault and battery upon a child under 14.

Alvarado-Lopez was arrested around 10:08 a.m. Tuesday, after troopers stopped a red Dodge Charger on Interstate 40 westbound at the 156-mile marker for a traffic violation.

He is being held at the Pulaski County Detention Center, awaiting extradition to the Lynn Police Department on a nationwide warrant.
